EIV Launches New MIECHV CQI Project

Strategies to Strengthen Program Reach

Early Impact Virginia has officially launched a new MIECHV Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) project focused on building capacity across Virginia’s home visiting programs to serve more families. Running through November 2025, this project reflects a more hands-on, coaching-focused approach from EIV, developed in direct response to persistent challenges programs face in family recruitment and retention, community partner referrals, and workforce stability. The goal of this work is to continue in our collective goal to expand the reach and impact of home visiting programs aligned with community need and opportunities.

Through this initiative, EIV will collaborate closely with participating programs to explore, test, and share strategies across the following focus areas:

🔹 Staff Retention & Recruitment: Programs will examine hiring practices, onboarding processes, and organizational culture. What changes could strengthen how staff are brought on board and supported for long-term success?

🔹 Family Engagement: Teams will explore ways to enhance the family experience from initial contact through sustained participation—such as refining referral-to-enrollment processes and supporting family retention. How can you strengthen a family’s understanding and connection to home visiting from the very first conversation?

🔹 Outreach & Referrals: Programs will work to deepen current referral partnerships and expand outreach to new sectors and community organizations—ensuring more families are connected to home visiting services. Where are the untapped opportunities to build or strengthen referral pathways in your community?

Coaching & Learning Opportunities for All Home Visiting Programs

Not a MIECHV-funded program? There are currently two opportunities available for additional program resources and support:

Coaching Sessions: Interested in improving family engagement, referrals, or staff retention at your program? Sign up for individualized monthly CQI coaching sessions. These sessions off a dedicated space to brainstorm, test ideas, and apply quality improvement tools tailored to your team's goals. Limited to 3–4 teams. Please reach out to Jamara Knight, CQI Coordinator at jknight@earlyimpactva.org by June 30 to reserve a spot or ask any questions.

Quarterly Webinars: All of Virginia's home visiting programs are welcome to join the quarterly CQI shared learning webinars. These sessions will offer space to learn from one another, explore common barriers, and discuss promising solutions.

🗓️ First Quarterly Webinar: In July we'll focus on referrals!

Learn how your program can utilize a social needs platform to strengthen referrals and better support families.  First, in partnership with the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (VA-AAP), we’ll showcase how Bridges to Resources is helping pediatricians—and may soon expand to OB/GYNs—to connect families to vital services. You’ll also see a live demo of Find Help, the platform powering this important work. In the second half of the call, programs will have time to share, discuss, and strategize around what’s helping or hindering their program efforts with reach, including staff retention, family engagement, outreach, and beyond.

When: Wednesday July 16th 9-10 am

Where: Virtual Zoom meeting:
