Continuous Quality Improvement
Our Initiatives
In 2026, EIV will support two sessions of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects! The first project will run February through May and will enable MIECHV and other home visiting programs to focus on individual operational, programmatic, or outcome goals. Following this project, EIV plans to partner with HV CoIIN and participate in a CQI Sprint to Sustain Breastfeeding Outcomes. Stay tuned for additional updates.
Last year in 2025, EIV launched a MIECHV CQI project focused on building capacity across Virginia’s home visiting programs to serve more families. Running through November 2025, this project reflected a more hands-on, coaching-focused approach from EIV, developed in direct response to persistent challenges programs face in family recruitment and retention, community partner referrals, and workforce stability. The goal of this work was to continue in our collective goal to expand the reach and impact of home visiting programs aligned with community need and opportunities.
Through capacity-focused CQI, EIV collaborated closely with participating programs to explore, test, and share strategies across the following focus areas:
Staff Retention & Recruitment:
Programs will examine hiring practices, onboarding processes, and organizational culture. What changes could strengthen how staff are brought on board and supported for long-term success?
Family Engagement:
Teams will explore ways to enhance the family experience from initial contact through sustained participation—such as refining referral-to-enrollment processes and supporting family retention. How can you strengthen a family’s understanding and connection to home visiting from the very first conversation?
Outreach & Referrals:
Programs will work to deepen current referral partnerships and expand outreach to new sectors and community organizations—ensuring more families are connected to home visiting services. Where are the untapped opportunities to build or strengthen referral pathways in your community?
